VenuWorks: It’s Us or Them; BSD Expresses Surprise

“IT’S US OR THEM,” APPEARS TO BE THE MESSAGE VENU-WORKS IS SENDING TO THE BURLINGTON CITY COUNCIL, IN LITE OF THE ONGOING…BUT LARGELY UN-PRODUCTIVE…TALKS THE AMES-BASED MANAGEMENT COMPANY HAS BEEN HAVING WITH BURLINGTON STEAMBOAT DAYS OFFICIALS.

CITY MANAGER JIM FERNEAU REFLECTED SOME OF THAT FRUSTRATION AT LAST(MON) NITE’S COUNCIL WORK SESSION, SAYING VENUWORKS FEELS THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY UNRESOLVED ISSUES REMAINING BETWEEN THEM AND BSD’S BOARD, TO REACH AN AGREEMENT IN A TIMELY FASHION.

AS FOR COUNCILMAN SHANE MCCAMPBELL’S PROPOSAL TO CLOSE THE AUDITORIUM FOR THREE YEARS AND USE THE SAVINGS TO HELP BUY A NEW POLICE STATION, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR STEVE HOAMBRECKER SAYS SUCH A PLAN WOULD SAVE THE CITY ABOUT 103-THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR.

THE COUNCIL INFORMALLY DIRECTED FERNEAU TO CONTACT VENUWORKS AND GET NEGOTIATIONS STARTED AGAIN.
