One Killed in Semi Vs. Pickup Collision

THE DRIVER OF A 2000 CHEVY S-10 TRUCK WAS KILLED EARLY YESTERDAY(FRI) NEAR LAHARPE, IN A COLLISION WITH A SEMI DRIVEN BY A DALLAS CITY MAN.

THE NAME OF THE PICKUP DRIVER HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED. STATE POLICE SAY IT HAPPENED ON ILLINOIS-9, WHEN 77-YEAR OLD CHARLES DEJAYNES BRAKED TO AVOID A DEER AND BEGAN TO SKID. HIS SEMI CROSSED INTO THE WESTBOUND LANE AND HIT THE PICKUP IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER’S DOOR.

 

BOTH VEHICLES LEFT THE ROAD AND THE PICKUP DRIVER…WHO WAS NOT WEARING A SEATBELT…WAS PARTIALLY THROWN OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND KILLED. DEJAYNES WAS INJURED AND TAKEN TO CARTHAGE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL. HE WAS ALSO TICKETED FOR IMPROPER LANE USEAGE.
