Veterans Day Observances Abound

IT’S VETERANS DAY AND THAT MEANS A NUMBER OF CEREMONIES ARE BEING HELD TO MARK THE OCCASION.

 

THE BURLINGTON AREA VETERANS COUNCIL OBSERVANCE IS SCHEDULED FOR 10 O’CLOCK AT MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM WITH LOCAL COUNCIL PRESIDENT JOE GEREN AS THE FEATURED SPEAKER. THE SERVICE INCLUDES A 21-GUN SALUTE AT 11 WITH THE LOCAL BOY SCOUTS RAISING THE FLAG.

ALDO LEOPOLD MIDDLE SCHOOL WILL PLAY HOST TO A PAIR OF VETERANS, WHO…AT 8:45 THIS(MON) MORNING…WILL SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH STUDENTS.

THE TRADITIONAL KEOKUK VETERANS DAY OBSERVANCE IS TODAY AT 11 AT THE NATIONAL CEMETERY.

HOLY TRINITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN WEST POINT IS HOSTING A CEREMONY AT 10, FOLLOWED BY A LUNCHEON FOR VETERANS AND THEIR SPOUSES AT 11:20.

CENTRAL LEE MIDDLE SCHOOL IN DONNELLSON IS HOSTING A LUNCHEON FOR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES AT NOON, FOLLOWED BY A 1 O’CLOCK ASSEMBLY.

THE BURLINGTON VFW AND ITS AUXILIARY IS SERVING LUNCH…FREE TO VETS…FROM 11 TO 2 AND WILL REDEDICATE ITS POW-MIA TABLE AT 2.

ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE VFW AND ONE BLOCK WEST…AT THE WASHINGTON…THERE’LL BE A FREE VETERANS DAY SHOW TONITE, FEATURING JESSICA HERNANDEZ & THE DELTAS…JESS KLEIN…AND THE SEAN COSTANZA BAND.

AND TOMORROW(TUES), THE IOWA WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT CENTER ON NORTH ROOSEVELT WILL HAVE A LUNCHEON FOR VETERANS FROM 11:30 TO 1:30. AGAIN, THAT’S TUESDAY.
