Tina Salamone to Leave Capitol Theater

THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF DOWNTOWN BURLINGTON’S CAPITOL THEATER HAS GIVEN HER TWO-WEEKS NOTICE.

 

TINA SALAMONE RESIGNED THIS(FRI) MORNING IN AN E-MAIL TO THE CAPITOL BOARD MEMBERS AND ANNOUNCED THAT SHE’LL BE LEAVING THE PRIVATELY-RUN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER DECEMBER SECOND. SHE’S ACCEPTED ANOTHER POSITION IN THE THEATRICAL & TEACHING FIELD WITH THE CITY OF BLOOMINGTON, ILLINOIS.

 

CAPITOL BOARD PRESIDENT FLORENCE PATERNO SAYS SALAMONE HAS DONE OF WONDERFUL JOB OF GETTING THINGS ORGANIZED IN THE WAKE OF PREVIOUS DIRECTOR JOHN SPEER’S DEPARTURE. THE BOARD IS SCHEDULED TO MEET NEXT WEEK TO CONFIRM THE RESIGNATION AND DECIDE HOW TO PROCEED IN FINDING A SUCCESSOR.

 

PATERNO SAYS BETWEEN DECEMBER SECOND AND WHEN A NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ARRIVES, BOARD MEMBERS WILL KEEP THE CAPITOL RUNNING AS SMOOTHLY AS POSSIBLE.

    I loved creating and booking wonderful acts and performances for the theater as I am sure Tina did. But I think its time the city take over the Capitol Theater and book it in conjunction with the Memorial auditorium. –John Speer
