Candle Lighting for Local Youth Who Have Passed Away

Candles around the world will be lit Sunday night in memory of young people who have passed too soon.

The Great River Chapter of Compassionate Friends is hosting a local candle lighting service at FunCity and will feature kids from our own area who have passed away.

Co-Leaders of the Chapter, Janice Neff and Marek Patejak, explain how the flames stay lit throughout the world Sunday evening…

“Every time zone lights a candle at 7 o’clock and when we extinguish ours at 8 o’clock, it’s 7 o’clock somewhere else, and so the light just goes around the world.”

The memorial service in Burlington is open to the public and anyone from surrounding areas.

There will be a video shown, featuring pictures of local youth who are no longer with us. If you would like a picture of a loved one shown you can contact “The Chapter” through their Facebook page-  Great River Compassionate Friends.

The World Wide Candle Lighting Service will take place in Huckleberry Hall at FunCity beginning at 6:30pm this Sunday.
