City, Venu-Works Reach Auditorium Deal

AFTER MORE THAN SIX MONTHS OF TALKS, THE BURLINGTON CITY COUNCIL VOTED 4 TO ONE LAST(MON) NITE TO SIGN A DEAL WITH VENU-WORKS TO OPERATE AND MARKET MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM.

VENU-WORKS SPOKESMAN JOE BRIGLIA SAYS FOR ALREADY-SCHEDULED EVENTS…INCLUDING WEDDINGS AND THE LIKE…THE AMES-BASED COMPANY WILL WORK WITH RESIDENTS.   BRIGLIA SAYS A RULE-OF-THUMB IS THAT A FACILITY SHOULD CHARGE ONE DOLLAR PER PERSON FOR WEDDINGS AND OTHER SIMILAR GATHERINGS.

COUNCILMAN SHANE MCCAMPBELL VOTED AGAINST THE CONTRACT, SAYING HE’S CONCERNED WITH THE 3-YEAR COMMITMENT BEFORE EITHER SIDE CAN GET OUT…BUT HE HOPES HE’S WRONG.
