Two Lives Lost on Snowy Area Roads

THERE WERE AT LEAST TWO FATAL ACCIDENTS IN THE AREA OVER THE WEEKEND…BOTH OF THEM WEATHER-RELATED.

 

36-YEAR OLD JESSICA BEASLEY OF LOMAX WAS KILLED FRIDAY AFTERNOON IN HENDERSON COUNTY, WHEN HER NORTHBOUND PONTIAC GRAND AM WENT OUT OF CONTROL ON SNOW-COVERED CARMAN ROAD AND SPUN INTO THE PATH OF A FORD PICKUP DRIVEN BY A MACOMB MAN. CORONER KRIS BEALS PRONOUNCED BEASLEY DEAD AT THE SCENE AND 38-YEAR OLD BRIAN NELSON WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO GREAT RIVER MEDICAL CENTER, WHERE HE WAS TREATED AND RELEASED. NO CITATIONS WERE ISSUED.

FRIDAY EVENING…JUST BEFORE 5:30…66-YEAR OLD GREG STRANDBERG OF WEST BURLINGTON WAS KILLED WHEN HE LOST CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE IN THE 32-HUNDRED BLOCK OF SNOWY 406 ROAD AND COLLIDED WITH A SECOND VEHICLE, DRIVEN BY JORDAN FIELDS OF BURLINGTON. THE ACCIDENT IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION BY WEST BURLINGTON POLICE.

IN A THIRD SERIOUS ACCIDENT FRIDAY…APPARENTLY NOT CAUSED BY THE SNOW…48-YEAR OLD BRIDGETT MITCHELL OF CALUMET CITY, ILLINOIS…83-YEAR OLD CARY JOHNSON OF CHICAGO…AND AN UN-NAMED 7-YEAR OLD…WERE ALL AIRLIFTED TO PEORIA ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL WITH INJURIES.
