Snow Above, a Thin Layer of Ice Below

((( AS OF 6 AM TODAY — SUNDAY )))
WE GOT THE SNOW THEY PREDICTED…BUT IF YOU’RE PARKED OUTSIDE AND YOU THINK YOUR BRUSH IS ALL YOU’LL NEED TO CLEAN YOUR WINDOWS, THINK AGAIN — THERE’S MORE-THAN-LIKELY A COATING OF ICE ON THERE SO HARD, EVEN YOUR HEAVY-DUTY SCRAPER MAY NOT BE ENOUGH TO REMOVE IT.

THE CITY OF BURLINGTON’S AUTOMATIC PARKING PROHIBITION WENT INTO EFFECT AT 4:50 THIS(SUN) MORNING, SO ANY VEHICLES PARKED ALONG POSTED SNOW EMERGENCY ROUTES WILL BE TICKETED AND MAY BE TOWED. THE PARKING BAN DOES NOT APPLY TO THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT, WHICH IS BOUNDED BY DIVISION STREET ON THE SOUTH…COLUMBIA ON THE NORTH…FRONT STREET ON THE EAST…AND CENTRAL ON THE WEST.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING UNTIL 6 O’CLOCK TONITE(SUN) FOR THE ENTIRE REGION. THE CENTRAL & NORTHERN PORTIONS OF OUR LISTENING AREA CAN EXPECT A TOTAL ACCUMULATION OF SNOW FROM 4 TO 8 INCHES, WITH SOME BLOWING & DRIFTING. IN THE SOUTH AND EAST, WE COULD SEE A LITTLE MORE SLEET…AND THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO ACCUMULATE UP TO FOUR INCHES TOTAL.

TRAVEL IS NOT ADVISED…EVEN IN TOWN…BUT IF YOU HAVE TO DRIVE, DON’T FORGET YOUR CELL-PHONE AND A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT. ALSO, IT’S A GOOD IDEA TO CALL AHEAD, TO MAKE SURE WHATEVER YOU’RE GOING TO HASN’T BEEN CANCELLED.
