Mother Nature 1, Shoppers 0

THE SLIPPERY STREETS DIDN’T KEEP LOCAL SHOPPERS AND OTHER MOTORISTS AT HOME OVER THE WEEKEND.

AS 4 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW FELL…IN SOME PLACES LESS AND IN SOME A LITTLE MORE…ON A THIN LAYER OF ICE LEFT OVER FROM THE EARLIER FREEZING DRIZZLE…THE PLOWS HIT THE ROADS. THE CITY OF BURLINGTON ISSUED ITS FIRST PARKING PROHIBITION ON THE SNOW EMERGENCY ROUTES AT 4:50 YESTERDAY(SUN) MORNING…IT REMAINED IN EFFECT UNTIL 6:27 LAST(SUN) NITE…THE STREETS WERE BUSY WITH LATE SHOPPERS HOPING TO LOCATE BETTER DEALS AND THOSE HARD-TO-FIND ITEMS. CITY POLICE SAY THERE WERE MORE THAN A DOZEN ACCIDENTS…INCLUDING A SNOWPLOW VERSUS A CAR…NO ONE WAS INJURED…AND MORE THAN HALF-A-DOZEN REPORTS OF VEHICLES EITHER STUCK OR DISABLED.

BY THE WAY, IF YOU LIVE IN THE COUNTRY AND MISSED YOUR SUNDAY HAWK EYE, IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE DELIVERED WITH TODAY’S(MON) PAPER.
