Apartment Fire Sends Residents and Firefighter to Hospital

Once the New Years Festivities were coming to an end this morning, things were just beginning to heat up, literally, at an apartment complex in Burlington.

Two people were trapped at 1115 Vine Street this morning at around 3am.

According to fire officials, one person was rescued from the basement, and one was rescued from the main floor. Four residents and one firefighter were sent to Great River Medical Center. One other firefighter was also hurt, but treated at the scene.

Burlington Fire Marshall Mark Crooks was still at the scene of the fire today when we arrived at 9am…

“We are in the process right now of evaluating the scene in the hopes of wrapping this up today. The building suffered significant damage. The owner is Dennis Wilson and he is on his way over here to meet with us.”

The fire started in the basement and spread to all floors before it was put out. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
