Roy Wayne Woodson, 72, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Great River Medical Center on Monday, December 30, 2013.
Born on May 23, 1941 in Hannibal, Missouri, he was the son of Earl and Barbara Pipkin Woodson. He married Barbara Holbert on March 5, 1965 in Burlington, Iowa.
Roy was a municipal land surveyor. He worked for 36 years for Des Moines County as survey crew chief and county inspector for secondary roads. After retirement Roy worked with the City of Burlington as a surveyor. In his spare time he enjoyed playing poker, bowling, reading James Patterson and science fiction novels, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, fishing and spending time with his grandkids. He was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three daughters, Monica Burnett, Marrianne (Troy) Cutkomp and Mindy (Jason) Easley, all of Burlington, Iowa; one son, Michael (Rhonda) Woodson of Burlington, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Myranda, Dakota, Victoria, Randi, Draydin, Sierra, Devyn, Tressa, Eli and Kodi; one brother, Dan Woodson of Hannibal, Missouri; two nieces, Tanya and Michelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial service for Roy Wayne Woodson will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. the First Assembly of God, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Wally Reynolds will officiate. Interment of ashes will be at a later date.

Iva D. Owen, 98, of West Burlington, formerly of Cotter, IA, died at 7:00 AM Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at her home.
Born October 31, 1915, in Des Moines County, IA, she was the daughter of Lester and Inez Stigge Dietsch. On September 26, 1942, she married Gomer Owen in Pleasant Grove, IA. He died September 13, 2004
Iva was a teacher of special education for four years in Cotter School System and for 32 years in the Moline Public School District, retiring in 1979.
She was a 1932 graduate of Mediapolis High School. She also was a graduate of Augustana College of Davenport and Cedar Falls Teacher College.
She was a member of Bethal Lutheran Church of Moline and Presbyterian Church of Cotter. She was a member of Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Southeast Iowa Antique Questers, and Moline Square Dancing Club. She enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling with her nieces and nephews. She loved teaching children.
Survivors include three sisters, Carol Staff of New London, IA, Eva Knopp of Burlington, and Erma Reynolds of Onieda, IL: and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Alvie and Leland.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends.
The funeral service for Mrs. Owen will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Ritzman officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory following the service. Inurnment will be at a later date.
