It’s “Dangerously Cold:” NWS Meteorologist

YEAH — IT’S COLD OUT THERE.

IN FACT, METEOROLOGIST ANDY ERVIN FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CALLED IT  “DANGEROUSLY” COLD FOR US, WITH WIND CHILLS OF MINUS 30 TO MINUS 45.    ERVIN SAYS IN TERMS OF SNOW, ILLINOIS GOT MORE THAN IOWA DID AND THE BLOWING AND DRIFTING IS CAUSING PROBLEMS FOR DRIVERS.

JUST ABOUT EVERY SCHOOL IN THE AREA IS CLOSED TODAY(MON), WHICH FOR MANY IS SIMPLY AN EXTENSION OF THEIR CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR’S BREAK. A NUMBER OF LOCAL SCHOOLS HAVE ALREADY NOTIFIED US THAT THEY’RE OPENING TWO HOURS LATE TOMORROW(TUE). IN THE CITY OF BURLINGTON, THE PARKING PROHIBITION ON SNOW EMERGENCY ROUTES WAS  CANCELLED AT 11:45 YESTERDAY(SUN) MORNING. IN FORT MADISON…STARTING TODAY(MON) AT NOON…PARKING WILL BE PERMITTED ON THE EVEN-NUMBERED SIDE OF THE STREET UNTIL TOMORROW(TUE) NITE AT 8. TUESDAY NITE AT 8, PARKING WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE ODD-NUMBERED SIDE OF THE STREET UNTIL 8 PM WEDNESDAY. AND BEGINNING WEDNESDAY NITE, PARKING WILL AGAIN BE LEGAL ON THE EVEN SIDE OF THE STREET UNTIL 8 PM THURSDAY.

IF YOU GET THE HAWK EYE…A LOCAL NEWSPAPER…AND IT HASN’T COME YET, IT’S SLOW-GOING…AND SOME OF THE DELIVERY PEOPLE WAITED TIL SUNRISE TO MAKE THEIR ROUNDS.
