Obituaries Friday January 10th

William Charles Bowen, 77, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa, on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.

     

Born on October 27, 1936 in Lomax, Illinois, he was the son of Edward Roscoe and Mamie Ella Buck Bowen. He married Idella Oline Olson on March 22, 1958 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

    

Bill enjoyed fishing, crafts – particularly plastic canvas, attending craft shows and flea markets. Christmas was his favorite holiday with all the crafts and family activities. He also enjoyed refinishing furniture. William and Idella owned and operated the Burlington Auction Center for 10 years. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Idella; one son, David (Jo-Etta) Bowen of Burlington, Iowa; one daughter, Rebecca Roxanne Stevens of Burlington, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marlene Boley of Davenport, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.

    

He was preceded in death by his parents.

    

The memorial service for William Charles Bowen will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Chris Roepke will officiate. Interment  of ashes will be in Stronghurst Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Memorials have been established for COPD and Cancer Research. Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service. Condolences may be left at www.prughfuneralservice.com.

and by his daughter Lea Anne (Gary) Kirby of Burlington

Funeral Service will be at 2PM Mon 1/13 in Lunning Chapel
Burial Will Be in the Aspen Grove Cemetery
The family will receive friends    For one hour prior to the time of service at Lunning Chapel
