New Offices At Last for DMCo Atty.

IT’S MORE MONEY FOR LESS SPACE, BUT THERE’S NO MOLD AND THE FLOOR ISN’T SEPARATING FROM THE WALLS.

WE’RE TALKING ABOUT THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE U-S BANK BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN BURLINGTON…SOME OF WHICH THE DES MOINES COUNTY BOARD HAS AGREED TO LEASE FOR A YEAR, MAYBE TWO, FOR THE COUNTY ATTORNEY AND HIS STAFF. SUPERVISOR TOM BROEKER…WHO SPEARHEADED THE SEARCH FOR SOMETHING SAFER THAN THE THIRD FLOOR OF THE CITY POLICE BUILDING…EVENTUALLY FOUND IT. BUT IN HIS VIEW, IT WON’T WORK FOREVER.

THE 26-THOUSAND-500 DOLLARS-A-YEAR LEASE KICKS IN THE FIRST OF NEXT MONTH, BUT U-S BANK IS LETTING THE COUNTY MOVE ITS EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES AND FILES IN IMMEDIATELY.
