ON ANOTHER FRONT, SUPERVISORS AWARDED A 670-THOUSAND DOLLAR CONTRACT TO SHIPLEY CONSTRUCTION TO GRADE & REPLACE THE PAVEMENT ON A STRETCH OF MEDIAPOLIS ROAD, ABOUT 3 MILES WEST OF MEDIAPOLIS, THIS SUMMER. JIM CARY SAYS THE CURVE HAS BEEN DANGEROUS FOR A LONG TIME. COUNTY ENGINEER BRIAN CARTER SAYS THE BIGGEST PART OF THE COST…500-THOUSAND DOLLARS…WILL BE PAID WITH GRANT MONEY.

 

DES MOINES COUNTY CONSERVATION DIRECTOR CHRIS LEE  SAYS THE WORK A GRANT HE RECEIVED WILL PAY FOR WILL BE DONE IN THE FALL.   IN OTHER BUSINESS, THE COUNTY BOARD YESTERDAY(TUE)  CANVASSED THE RESULTS OF THE RECENT TWO RIVERS LEVEE & DRAINAGE DISTRICT ELECTION…AND THE WINNERS ARE STEVE MULLAHY, KIRK SIEGLE, CHAD KUNTZ, COLLIN WAGENBACH AND LEE ROBERTSON.
