Firemen Battle House Fire in the Cold

NO ONE WAS HURT, BUT KARLA ANDRIES’ HOUSE NORTH OF KINGSTON WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE LAST(THUR) NITE…EVEN AS MORE THAN 40 FIREFIGHTERS FROM A HANDFUL OF LOCAL DEPARTMENTS BATTLED THE BLAZE IN THE FRIGID WEATHER FOR SEVERAL HOURS.

 

CREWS FROM MEDIAPOLIS…OAKVILLE…WEST BURLINGTON, BURLINGTON, AND WAPELLO BEGAN ARRIVING AT THE TWO-STORY HOME A FEW MINUTES AFTER 5…AND AT THIS POINT THEY STILL AREN’T CERTAIN WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE, ALTHO THE OWNER SAID SHE HAD BEEN SMELLING SMOKE…FROM TIME-TO-TIME…THROUGHOUT THE DAY.

 

THE LOCAL RED CROSS CHAPTER WAS CALLED IN TO HELP ANDRIES WITH HER IMMEDIATE NEEDS.
