Iowa State Penitentiary inmates will be moving to the new facility in March.
But, according to the Warden, Nick Ludwick, not all the inmates are thrilled with the new living conditions. Ludwick has said that moving day will be swift, silent, and secure. This isn’t the first time he’s done it.
It hasn’t been decided yet what will become of the old penitentiary. It’s the oldest building in Iowa, so the city of Fort Madison wants to preserve it and possibly make it a tourist attraction.
