Slick Conditions Send Car Off US 34

A 76-year-old Burlington woman lost control of her vehicle today while traveling eastbound along US 34.

The crash was due to slick road conditions. Sandra Sherman ran off the right side of the highway, drove through the guardrail, rolled over once, and came to a rest at the bottom of the hill near West Burlington Ave.

West Burlington Police Chief Frank Newberry was at the scene when we arrived…

“The Fire Department had to extract the person. She just lost control and drove down the hill.”

She was sent by ambulance to Great River Medical. Sherman suffered from two incapacitating injuries.

Her 1992 Pontiac Grand Am was totaled.
