The decision has been made.
The West Burlington School Board will look to hire a school resource officer. However, Superintendent David Schmitt says it will only be part time…
“When we set out on this, the board was interested in a part time position. We started having discussions with the city, and they started favoring a full time position. I’m confident the city and the school can get a good agreement for both entities.”
If the .4 FTE is approved by the city, it will cost the school district $30,000, unlike the full-time position which would cost close to $48,000.
They hope to have an SRO ready to start after this summer.
