Peter “Lil Pete” Hageman, 81, of Burlington, died at 3:59 PM Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

 

Born February 2, 1933, in Lake City, MN, he was the son of Leo and Florence Blaisdell Hageman. On September 27, 1957, he married Joyce R. Goble in Burlington.

 

Peter worked as a foreman for Neolke-Lyons and then worked in production at Champion Spark Plug where he retired as a foreman.

 

He was a graduate of Lake City High School.

 

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War aboard the USS Boxer. 

 

He was of the Methodist faith.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking, yard work, and especially spending time with his great-grandchildren.

 

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; one daughter, Lisa (John) Sandell of Danville, IA; two grandchildren, Benjamin Sandall and Elizabeth Sandell-Carter; two great-grandchildren, Mikayla Sandell-Carter and Honesty Sandell-Carter; one half-brother, Bill (Sue) Steine of Lake City, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.

 

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home.

 

The funeral service for Mr. Hageman will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 10, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating.  Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.  A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the service.  Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory following the service.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

 

A memorial has been established for the National Psoriasis Foundation.
