Bertha Margaret “Bertie” Fedler, 92 years, of West Point, Iowa died at 5:30 pmTuesday, February 11, 2014 at the DonnellsonHealthCenter, Donnellson, Iowa. She was born July 7, 1921 in rural Henry County, Iowa, a daughter of Conrad and Elizabeth (Rotter) Kruse. On October 1, 1947, she married Louis Fedler in West Point. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1999.
Mrs. Fedler was a homemaker, seamstress, and gardener. She also helped picked fruit at Faeth’s Orchards and was a bookkeeper for her husband’s gas delivery business. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, Altar and Rosary Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Fort Madison Women’s bowling association, and was a 4-H Club leader. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidered, and bowled up till she was 85.
She is survived by one son, Howard Fedler, of West Point, Iowa; one daughter, Vickie (husband Gary) Sanders, of West Point, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Jane Fedler, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one brother, Cletus Kruse, of West Point, Iowa; three sisters: Darlene Hellweg, of Donnellson, Iowa; Florence Menke, of St. Paul, Iowa; and Glorine Hellweg, of Fairfield, Iowa; 7 grandchildren: Amanda, Ashley, Steve, Brad, Pam, Rod, and Kim; 12 great grandchildren: Logan, Anaka, Mya, Kaleb, Ella, Dante, Lauren, Mason, Bianca, Olivia, Damion, and Cade; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Conrad Fedler; one grandson, Doug Sanders; three brothers: Ernie Kruse, Richard Kruse, and Adrian Kruse; and two sisters, Marie Meierotto and Kathryn Meierotto.
Friends may call after 2:00 pm Friday, February14, 2014 at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, 412 Ave C, West Point, Iowa, where a Rosary will be recited at 2:30 pm. The family will greet friends from 5:30 – 6:30 pm Friday evening at the funeral home, with a Christian Wake Service to be held at 6:30 pm Friday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 amSaturday, February 15, 2014 at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, West Point, Iowa, with Reverend Dennis Hoffman as celebrant. Burial will be at the CalvaryCemetery, West Point, Iowa.
