2-Inch Rainfall Floods Burlington Streets, Turns Ditch into “Flint Creek,” for Local Motorist

There was a large amount of surface flooding in the area yesterday as about two inches of rain was added to a number of ice blocked gutters and sewers.

As the snow continued to melt, culverts and ditches overflowed on to streets and roads, and a water main broke, causing flooding on Roosevelt Aveneue, Mason Rd, and Lawrence Dr, among other places.

During the storm, a young Illinois woman lost control of her minivan on Highway 34 just west of the Roosevelt exit and drove down the embankment into about two feet of water, which she thought was Flint Creek.  19 year old Kim Russell of Sping Grove was not injured.
