Obituaries Friday February 21st

Robert Leroy Hand, 70, of Burlington, died at 1:20 AM Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at his winter home in Marco Island, FL.  Arrangements are pending at the Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory.

Charlotte Ann Redmon, 80, of Burlington, died at 1:50 PM Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.


Born June 29, 1933, in Wapello, IA, she was the daughter of Charles Wesley and Sadie Ann Minor Schultz. On April 14, 1979, she married Sharel L. Redmon in Burlington.  He died December 27, 2012.


Charlotte was a homemaker.


She was a graduate of Burlington High School.  She attended college at Culver-Stockton in Canton, Missouri.


She was a member of LaGrange Christian Church. Since moving back to Burlington she attended Parkside First Baptist Church with her daughters.  She was very active in Christian Women’s Club.  She taught Sunday School for many years.  Charlotte loved Jesus and shared that love with many people.   She read the bible daily and she believed in the power of prayer.  She loved crosswords and her Russell Stover Chocolates. Her biggest enjoyment was her family.


Survivors include two daughters, Rae Ann (Rennie) Ludens of Burlington and Deb (Lyle) Massner of Morning Sun, IA; one son, Wally (Elaine) Brown of Milaca, MN; two stepsons, Chris (Marsha) Redmon of Kirksville, MO, and Craig (Brenda) Redmon of Canton, MO; ten grandchildren, Jonathan Ludens, Amber Ludens, Luke Massner, Derrick Brown, Taryn Brown, Elizabeth (Greg) Altapeter, Kathleen (Damien) Nuebling, Thomas Redmon, Audrey (Luke) Barton, and Andrew Redmon, six great-grandchildren, Lance Ludens, Graysen Ludens, Dominic Altapeter, Agatha Altapeter, Isabella Barton, and Bailey Nuebling; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.


Besides her husband she was preceded in death by five sisters, Helen Brown, Sara Pealer, Frances Sarnes, Mary Walsinger, and Nellie Cross, and one brother, James Schultz.


Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 3:00PM Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Thielen Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Parkside First Baptist Church.


The funeral service for Mrs. Redmon will be 1:00 PM Monday, February 24, 2014, at Parkside First Baptist Church with Rev. Marshall Jackman officiating.  Burial will be in Wapello Cemetery.


Memorials have been established for Camp Courageous and Great River Hospice.
