Obituaries Monday March 10th

Bobbie Jo Royal, age 41 of Wapello, died Saturday March 8, 2014 in the ER at Great River Medical Center.   The daughter of Robert and Edna (Adams) Stanton, she was born January 7, 1973 at Washington, Iowa.  On August 20, 1993 she married Vincent Royal in Wapello.  She attended the Wapello High School and was a senior at Southeastern Community College.  She was a homemaker and had worked as a CNA.

Survivors include:  her husband of Wapello; two sons, Arthur James Royal (AJ) and Vincent Joshua Royal (Josh); her parents, Robert Stanton of Missouri and Edna and Keith Frownfelter of Mediapolis;   two brothers, Scott and Jennifer Stanton of Wilton; Pete and Stacey Stanton of Muscatine;

Cremation has been accorded and there will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be Saturday March 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello, with Rev. Claude Perhealth officiating.  A general memorial has been established in her name.

Marvin “Skeeter” John Novak, Jr., 61, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:40 a.m. at his home.  He was born on March 24, 1952 in Charles City, IA to Marvin J. & Ila M. Arhart Novak, Sr.  He married Dawn Cunningham on July 21, 1973 in Joice, IA and they later divorced.  He then married Tammy Boone in Fort Madison and they later divorced.  He worked for the Dial Corporation first in Mason City, IA, then in Omaha, NE and later transferred to Fort Madison.  He worked for Dial for 32 years.  He also loved to perform magic for children, woodworking and fishing.  Being a man of God, he enjoyed sharing his faith in Christ with others.
Skeeter is survived by: 5-sons: Jaime (Jennifer Johnson) Novak of Fort Madison, IA, Jason Novak of Fort Madison, IA, Aaron (Sarah) Novak of Watertown, NY, Chris (Steve) Nye of Fort Madison, IA, Mike (Jordyn) Novak Montrose, IA; 1-daughter: Jennifer (Josh Shallcross) Novak of Fort Madison, IA; 11-grandchildren; 2-sisters: Idella Shores of Fort Madison, IA & Fran
(Bob) West of Kissimmee, FL; 3-nieces & 4-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service to be held at 10:00 a.m. all on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Eva D. Overlander, 86, of Mendon, IL, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Blessing Hospital  in Quincy.

 

Born November 15, 1927, in Marceline, IL, she was the daughter of Rufus and Helen Welte Darnell.

 

Eva retired from Lehigh-Leopold Company.  She later worked at the North Adams Home in Mendon, IL.  She enjoyed vegetable gardening and crocheting.

 

Survivors include one daughter, Rosetta R. (Jerry) Huffaker of Avondale, AZ; four grandsons, Gregory (Faith) Overlander of West Burlington, Thomas (Karol) Cornic of Le Claire, Timothy Cornic of Oquawka, Jeffrey Cornic of Mount Pleasant, eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Harold (Sylvia) Darnell of St. Louis, MO, and Vernon (Ruby) Darnell of Blanchard, OK; one sister, Viola Cooper of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

 

There will be no visitation or services.

her father, Haywood Love Jr. of Buffalo, New York;

2 sisters, Terah Hunter of Burlington, Iowa and Kasey Brown of West Burlington, Iowa;

2 brothers, Robert Clark of Atlanta, Georgia and Dominique Peterson of Burlington, Iowa;

 paternal grandfather, Norford Hunter of Buffalo, New York;

 several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews including local aunts and uncles, Fred (Vivienne) Starling of Burlington, Iowa, Jesse Starling of Burlington, Iowa, Bernard Hunter of Buffalo, New York and Jerry Hunter of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

 

Funeral Service:will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Fred Starling will officiate.

 

Interment: will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
