THE BURLINGTON SCHOOL BOARD MEETS TONITE(MON) AT 6 AND WILL RESUME TALKS ABOUT THE DISTRICT’S PROJECTED 727-THOUSAND DOLLAR DEFICIT AND WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO STOP THE “BLEEDING.”

OPTIONS BEING DISCUSSED TO-DATE INCLUDE RAISING THE TAX LEVY RATE BY A NICKEL-PER-THOUSAND-DOLLARS AND ELIMINATING 12 POSITIONS…TO HIKING THE LEVY BY 39 CENTS, CUTTING SEVEN POSITIONS, AND USING 300-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH RESERVES.

THE WEST BURLINGTON SCHOOL BOARD (ALSO) MEETS TONITE(MON) AT 7 AND SUPERINTENDENT DAVE SCHMITT IS RECOMMENDING A TWO-DOLLAR REDUCTION IN THE LEVY RATE.
