Flyers Grounded; Badgers Bite Wildcats

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Top overall seed Florida earned a spot in the NCAA men’s Final Four and ended Dayton’s surprising run in the tournament by downing the 11th-seeded Flyers 62-52 to win the South Regional in Memphis.

 

Scottie Wilbekin  scored 14 of his game-high 23 points in the first half as the Gators picked up their 30th consecutive victory. Patric Young added 12 and seven rebounds to help Florida finally reach the national semifinals after three straight exits in the regional finals.

 

Meanwhile, second seed Wisconsin cut down the nets as West Regional winners in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament following a 64-63 overtime triumph against top seed Arizona. Frank Kaminsky had 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Badgers to their first Final Four since 2000. Nick Johnson led the Wildcats with 16 points but was unable to release a shot before the final buzzer.
