S. Main Home Invasion Second Violent Crime in Burlington Early Monday Morning

An armed robbery at the Lincolnville Motel on Mt. Pleasant Street was not the only serious crime committed early yesterday(Mon) morning in Burlington —

Police now say a 31-year old woman and a 19-year old man were the victims of a home invasion around 4 am in the 24-hundred block of South Main Street. The as-yet-unidentified residents told detectives they were subdued with duct tape while the intruder demanded money and stabbed and hit them in the process. The woman was taken to Great River Medical Center but the man declined treatment. A short time later…as police were following up on the crime…they picked up a Waukegan, Illinois man in the 200 block of South 8th Street on an Illinois Department of Corrections parole violation warrant. It’s not yet clear if 20-year old Earl Booth-Harris was involved in the attack, but he is considered a “person of interest.”

Around 4:15 yesterday(Mon) morning, three men robbed, beat and shot the 63-year old owner-manager of the Lincolnville Motel at 1701 Mt. Pleasant Street. The suspects…described only as African-American…called on the outdoor intercom and asked for a room. As the victim began opening the door, the trio forced their way in…severely beat the man and shot him in the leg…and took off with an unknown amount of cash. He was taken to GRMC.
