Bees Win Home Opener

The Burlington Bees kicked off their first homestand of the season last night with a 3-0 shutout of the Bowling Green(OH) Hotrods.


Bees starter Elliot Morris struck out six, allowed just one hit in five innings and picked up the win, his first.  The Bees are now 3-2 and will take on the Hotrods again tonight at Community Field.  The game’s at 6:30 and you can hear it on KBUR, beginning with Michael Broskoski’s pre-game show at 6:10.

In local high school track & field yesterday…..


Mt. Pleasant won the team title at Burlington’s Johannsen Relays with 169 points.  Ft. Madison finished second with 143 and the host Grayounds came in third with 132.  Keokuk rounded out the field with 122 team points.   Individually, BHS senior Steve Kruse beat Ft. Madison’s Nick Guzman by two-tenths of a second in the 800.
