Bees Win Again; Pitching Tough

The Burlington Bees scored early last night and then hung on…thanks to good pitching, four opposition errors and seven walks…in beating the Bowling Green(OH) Hot Rods 5-2.

 

The Bees are now 4-2 for the season, while Bowling Green drops to 2-4.  The two teams play again today at 11:30 at Community Field.  Tomorrow(Fri) night, Dayton comes to town for a 3-game series.

 

Long-time Fort Madison wrestling coach Mick Pickford died yesterday in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  He was 82.   Pickford was head coach of the Bloodhound wrestlers for 35 years and during that span his teams won 17 conference titles, 10 sectional tournaments, three district meets and finished in the top-6 in the state six times, including a third place in 1980.   His squads once won 42 duals in a row and he had six undefeated seasons.
