Bees Lead as Game Suspended

The Burlington Bees were leading the Beloit Snappers 3-2 yesterday(Sun) afternoon at Community Field when the storm hit.   After a half-hour delay, the umpires declared the game “suspended,” and the teams will finish it June 8th, when the Snappers return to Burlington.   The Bees…now 13-8…go on the road to face Wisconsin four more times, before heading to suburban Chicago to face the Kane County Cougars.   You can hear tonight’s(Mon) game on KBUR. Air-time is 6:15 with Michael Broskoski’s pre-game show.

At the Drake Relays, West Burlington-Notre Dame’s Jeff Giannettino went an even 7-feet to win the boys high jump title for the second straight year. His teammate…sophomore Xavior Williams, also from Notre Dame, placed third with a jump of 6-8. But the members of the Mt. Pleasant girls shuttle hurdle relay team had a rough day Saturday, as they won in record time…or so they thought…but were then told they had been disqualified because one of their runners had left early.
