SCC Announces Top Alums

Southeastern Community College has named this year’s “Distinguished Alumni,” for the West Burlington and Keokuk campuses.

Author Linda Murphy graduated from the south campus in 1995 and went on to the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She’s written a number of books…many for young adults…including “Reaper,” “A Reason to Stay,” “Neighbors,” and “Firestorm,” among them. She’ll deliver the commencement address at the Keokuk campus later this month.

Local businessman Craig Upton is the main campus recipient. He graduated from SCC in 1976 and eventually went on to create KPI Concepts in his garage in 1984. He’ll address the West Burlington campus grads at this year’s commencement. Both “Distinguished Alums” will be recognized at receptions in their honor on the 14th and 15th of this month, respectively.
