The Iowa Department of Public Safety is warning people that damage from severe storms will most likely draw scam artists to our area posing as local contractors.

Just a few of the suggestions from DPS are that you avoid on-the-spot contractors, get everything in writing, don’t pay a large amount in advance, and write down license plate numbers.
