Henderson Co. Man Charged with Attempted Murder

Authorities in Henderson County are saying the man who shot 53-year-old Elliot Sherdaul of Carman, Illinois Monday night, did so in self defense.

Sherdahl went to the home of 72-year-old Jack Taylor, who is also his father-in-law, at around 8:15 Monday night on Hopper Road near Stronghurst.

During an altercation between the men, Sherdahl pulled out a pistol, so Taylor shot him with his shot gun. Sherdahl was transferred from Great River Medical Center to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics yesterday with an injury to his face and hand.

He was also charged with Attempted Murder and Unlawful Aggravated use of a Weapon.
