A St. Louis-area man has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle, after he allegedly struck & killed a 2-year old girl with his truck Saturday night at the Midtown Motel on Mt. Pleasant Street in Burlington.
34-year old Phillip Evans of Wood River, Illinois then left the scene. Young D’niyah Brider was taken to Great River Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
City detectives were given a description of a Dodge pickup, which they later located in the motel’s parking lot. They traced it to Evans, questioned him, then arrested him on the Class B felony.
Lt. Jeff Klein of the Burlington Police Department says their 10-hour long investigation revealed that Evans had been drinking……
A judge set his bond at $25,000.
