Bees Lose to Kings Twice; Home Thursday

The Burlington Bees lost to the Clinton Lumber Kings twice yesterday at Ashford University Field…7-4 in the first game, which had started Monday night but was then suspended because of rain…and 3-2 in the second contest, which was already scheduled for yesterday afternoon. 

 

The Bees are now 16-20 so far this season and will try to take the final game of the series in Clinton today at 12:30.   You can hear all the action on-line at “gobees.com.”   (The Bees return to Community Field tomorrow night to start a four-game series with the Cedar Rapids Kernels.)

 

 

At the NJC-double-A Division-One college golf tournament at Burlington’s Spirit Hollow, the leaders…all with first-round 71’s…are Cooper Brown of Wallace State…Colin Pearson of Indian Hills…and David Wicks of Midland.   Indian Hills leads the team race with a 10-over-par 298…Wallace State is at 301…and Iowa Western is in third place with 306 strokes.   Round-2 begins this morning and the tournament continues through Friday.

In boys tennis…

 

Keokuk won the team title in the Southeast Conference tournament. Mt. Pleasant finished second, Fairfield third and Ft. Madison fourth.

 

In girls tennis…

 

Pleasant Valley won the MAC tournament by 1 ½ points over Bettendorf. Burlington finished 8th.

 

ND-WB defeated Ft. Madison 6-3 in a dual meet at Dankwardt Park.
