Bees Lose 8th Straight; Home Tonight

The Burlington Bees have now lost eight straight, after a 4-2 defeat yesterday at the hands of the Clinton Lumber Kings.

 

Burlington is now 16-21, while the “Kings” up their record to 21-16.   The Bees return home to Community Field tonight, beginning a 4-game series with the Cedar Rapids Kernels, and you can hear all the action on KBUR, starting with the pre-game show at 6:10.

 

In college baseball, the SCC Blackhawks have advanced to the 3-team district tournament, after defeating DMACC 6-2 last night in Waterloo.   SCC is now 42-18 this season and will play this weekend at the Wagner Athletic Complex. The winner moves on to the NJC-double-A Division-2 World Series.

 

Meanwhile, at the NJCAA Division-One golf championship at Burlington’s Spirit Hollow course, Zac Oliver of Paris(TX) Junior College is leading at the halfway mark. David Wicks of Midland(TX) Community College is in second place…and Frederik Anderson of Western Texas and Cooper Brown of Wallace State CC in Hanceville, Alabama are tied for third.     Indian Hills of Ottumwa leads the team standings, followed by Wallace State and then Iowa Western.   The competition continues today and tomorrow.
