Local Teens’ Car Strikes HendCo Squad, Chase Ensues…Busted

Henderson County deputies and Oquawka police arrested two 18-year olds early this(Fri) morning after a 20-minute chase that wound its way through Gladstone and Oquawka Townships and the Villages of Gladstone and Oquawka.

 

During the pursuit, the vehicle containing the suspects hit the Sheriff’s Department patrol car…but the deputy was not injured. Sheriff Steve Haynes says Alex Stanley of Oquawka…who was driving and ran off when the car was stopped (at 2nd & Putnam Streets in Oquawka)…has been charged with at least two felonies — Aggravated Fleeing & Eluding a Police Officer and Criminal Damage to Government-Supported Property…plus Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, Reckless Driving, Possession of Less than 2 1/2 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Going 80 in a 55-Mile-Per-Hour Zone, Disobeying a Traffic Control Device and Improper Lane Useage.

 

Stanley’s passenger…Devin Hainds, also of Oquawka…remained in the car and will face counts of Marijuana Possession, Less than 2 1/2 Grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
