City Mgr. to be Evaluated Tonight; WB Skl. Bd. to Vote on New Coach

There could be more talk tonight(Mon) at Burlington City Hall about residential developers’ desires for a city-wide expansion of the property-tax abatement program.

During an on-air interview last week, City Manager Jim Ferneau said the results of such programs are mixed.

Ferneau, himself, will be under a microscope tonight(Mon) — the Council will evaluate him behind closed doors, which is allowed by state code. Also on the agenda is a presentation by the Purple and Gray Foundation, regarding funding for the Bracewell Stadium renovation…the awarding of a contract for this year’s hot-mix-asphalt street resurfacing program…and a final vote on an ordinance that would change the starting times of regular council meetings to 5:30. Tonight’s(Mon) meeting is at 6:30 and the public is welcome.

West Burlington may have found its new head football coach. On tonight’s (monday) school board agenda is the recommended approval to hire Nick Breuer for the position and also hire him for junior high track and a PE/RTI teacher. If approved, Breuer will be paid $4,054.00 for football, $2,252.00 for track, and $44,137.00 for PE/RTI. Tonight’s meeting is set for 7 o’clock.
