Obituaries Thursday May 29th

Dennis Lee Parsons, 53, of Burlington, died at 1:30 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at the Parkview of Wellman in Wellman, Iowa.
Born January 18, 1961, in Monmouth, IL, he was the son of Jack and Mary June Dennis Parsons. Dennis was a service manager in the automotive industry. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving as a Deck Yeoman aboard the USS Enterprise.
He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and watching movies. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Parsons of Lincoln, NE, and Andrew Murphy of Burlington; one daughter, Kaitlynne Parsons of Burlington; two brothers, Jackie Parsons of Greenfield, IN, and Matt Parsons of Greenfield, IN, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from noon until 4:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Friday, May 30, 2014 at Thielen Funeral Home with full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard at 4:00 PM. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory following the visitation. Burial of cremated remains will be at sea by the United States Navy.
A memorial has been established.

Thomas “Tom” Frederick Boyle, 87, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

Born on December 4, 1926 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Francis P. and Mary M. Boyle. He married Juanita May Boyd on May 19, 1947 in West Burlington, Iowa.

Tom worked for 32 years at Flynn & Boyles Furniture City. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Burlington Aerie #150, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #579, V.F.W. and D.A.V. He love yard work, morning walks, and his pet dog “Libby”. He also enjoyed the outdoors, visits to the park and feeding the fish at Lake Starker. He was a devout fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Green Bay Packers. He was a member of SS. John & Paul Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife Juanita; one daughter, Cecille (Darrell) Clevidence of Galesburg, Illinois; one son, Phillip (Candace) Boyle of Burlington, Iowa; two granddaughters, Martha (Andy) Goodman and Margaret Strean, both of Galesburg, Illinois; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, William “Rusty” Boyle of Burlington, Iowa; one sister, Sister Rose Ann Boyle, SSND of St. Louis, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

The graveside ash committal service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Fr. David Steinle will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.

No formal visitation is planned. Prugh Funeral Service has been entrusted for cremation services. Memorials have been established for St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry and the Des Moines County Humane Society. Condolences may be left at www.prughfuneralservice.com.
