Bees Lose Third Straight; Bears Advance in Boys Soccer

The Burlington Bees lost again last night to the Peoria Chiefs, 3-1, this time in 9 innings and without a rain delay.

Burlington has now lost 3-in-a-row and is 25-27 on the year; the Chiefs up their first-half record to 29-24. The two teams will wrap up their series tonight in Peoria and you can hear the game on KBUR. Saturday, the Bees begin a 3-game series in Cedar Rapids against the Kernels.

On the college baseball front, the SCC Blackhawks have placed 10 players on the all-region team and Coach Justin Schulte has been named North Plains District coach-of-the-year.   SCC set a new school record for wins in a season…45…and went to the NJCAA World Series for the first time since 1994.

Meanwhile, the Lady Blackhawks softball team had four of its players chosen as all-region and SCC women’s softball coach Melissa Flores was named Region-11, Division-1 coach-of-the-year.
