Bees Lose, Girls Head to State Golf

The Burlington Bees lost to Cedar Rapids 4-3  yesterday afternoon on the road, as the Kernels’ Chad Christensen cracked an 8th inning homer to break a 3-all tie.

 

The two teams will wrap up their series today at noon and the Bees return to Community Field Wednesday to face the Quad Cities River Bandits. (There are no games scheduled for tomorrow.)

 

The Iowa girls state golf tournament gets underway today and New London is among the top teams in Class 1A, Mt. Pleasant in 4A.   New London plays in Marshalltown, Mt. Pleasant in Ames, and Central Lee’s Alex Krehbiel…who qualified individually in 3A…will also swing at the Ames Country Club.

 

In racing, 8-year veteran Tyler Glass won his first IMCA Modifieds race at 34 Raceway over the weekend.   The other winners were Shane Watts in the IMCA Stock cars…Daniel Bergquist in the 305 Sprints…Bobby Anders in the IMCA Sport Mods…Devon Rouse in the Mod Lites…and Austin Becerra in the 4-Cylinders.
