Bond has been set at $500,000 for Ray Polhans.
The 42-year-old Ft. Madison man is accused of riding his motorcycle to Burlington yesterday afternoon, confronting 35-year-old Marvin Sutton in the back yard at 1609 Green Street, and then shooting him in the chest as Sutton waved a hammer.
Just before midnight, authorities in Ft. Madison apprehended Polhans and brought him back to Des Moines County to face a First-Degree Murder charge. Neighbors say they saw at least one other person, maybe two, in the neighborhood when Sutton was shot, but Burlington Criminal Investigation Division Commander Jeff Klein says they’re not suspects…..
Acting County Attorney Amy Beavers says Polhans is scheduled to be back in court June 12th.
