Primary Election Day in Iowa

It’s primary election day in Iowa and the polls are open until 9 pm.

 

In Des Moines County, there’s a 2-way race on the Democratic ballot for County Treasurer between two long-time Treasurer’s office employees — Janelle Nalley-Londquist and Debra Moore. Current County Treasurer Brenda (Buck) Stellern is not seeking reelection. County Supervisor Tom Broeker, a Republican, is seeking re-election and will be challenged in November by Democrat Ann Distelhorst. Acting County Attorney Amy Beavers is seeking the retiring Pat Jackson’s seat as a Democrat, while her challenger on the November General Election ballot is Republican Trent Henkelvig, the Mayor of Danville. Also, incumbent Recorder Lisa Schreiner, a Democrat, is running unopposed in the primary.

 

In Lee County, Becky Gaylord and Chris Spann are both seeking the Democratic nomination today(Tue) for Treasurer. Incumbent Supervisor Ernie Schiller is being challeged by fellow Democrat Don Hunold in the 3rd District,(that’s the Donnellson area), while incumbent Democrat Rick Larkin is competing today(Tue) against Christopher Greenwald in the 2nd County Board District. Lee County candidates running unopposed today(Tue) are County Attorney Mike Short and incumbent Recorder Nancy Booten.
