The victim of a Sunday morning, home-built plane crash near the Fairfield airport has been identified as 63-year old Robert Bollinger of Fairfield.
Authorities say the single-engine BD-4 crashed shortly after takeoff and caught fire at some point. The wreckage and Bollinger’s body were found in a cornfield southeast of the municipal airport. The FAA continues its investigation.
