The Des Moines County Attorney’s office has filed formal, felony charges against a St. Louis area man, who’s accused of striking and killing a 2-year old girl with his pickup in Burlington’s Midtown Motel parking lot on May 10th, and then leaving the scene.

Acting County Attorney Amy Beavers says she filed counts of Homicide by Vehicle and Failure to Stop and Remain at the Scene of an Accident Involving Death or Personal Injury against 34-year old Phillip Evans of Wood River, Illinois.

The victim, Dniyah Brider, was taken to Great River Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Evans, who worked as a laborer at the Iowa Fertilizer Plant construction site south of Wever, was released on bond.
