Summer Means More Scams

More scams to report in the area, one of them in Henry County, where a resident yesterday(Thur) received a call from a person with a foreign-sounding accent, who offered to sell the resident prescription medication.

The caller said the person did not need to see a doctor before ordering the medicine and he then attempted to take an order and get billing information from the resident. Authorities again remind you to never give out personal information over the phone.

In Warren County, Illinois, Sheriff Martin Edwards says several residents have been contacted by men offering to blacktop their driveways, usually at reduced rates…claiming to have leftover materials from another job. When they’re finished, the charge is much higher than was promised. If you get such a visit, call your local police or sheriff’s office.
