Cooney & Friends Shut Out Beloit; Bees Home This Weekend

Starting pitcher Harrison Cooney led the Burlington Bees to a 2-0 victory over the Beloit Snappers in southern Wisconsin last night.

The Bees are now 49-40 and they return to Community Field for a 4-game series with Peoria, beginning tonight at 6:30.   The Chiefs are 50-39.

Burlington split with Assumption, winning the first game yesterday 10-8 and losing game two 11-0.

Mt. Pleasant beat Ft. Madison twice, 3-0 and 12-1.

Oquawka native Todd Hamilton shot a first-round 64 at TPC Deere Run and he’s one shot behind the three leaders, after one day at the John Deere Classic in Silvis.

(Zach Johnson, Rory Sabbatini and Brian Harman are tied at 63, while Hamilton is tied with two others, Steven Bowditch and William McGirt.)
