Jury Chosen for Techel Trial #3

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A jury has been seated to hear the third trial of an Iowa man charged with killing his wife and unborn child.

A jury of 12 members and four alternates was selected today(Tues) to hear the case against 23-year-old Seth Techel, which is expected to last two weeks at the Scott County Courthouse in Davenport.

Techel has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and nonconsensual termination of a human pregnancy in the May 2012 shooting death of his wife, Lisa, at their home in southeastern Iowa. She was five months pregnant.

Juries at two previous trials were unable to agree on a verdict, leading to mistrials.

Defense attorney Roger Owens warned jurors that it’s going to be “an emotional case” but they have to decide it on the evidence.
