Blue Jays Take Quick Lead, Beat Lady Falcons in State Softball

Defending state champ Bondurant-Farrar scored seven times in the first inning, then held on to beat West Burlington-Notre Dame 9-4 in the first round of the girls 3A state softball tournament in Ft. Dodge yesterday. 

The Blue Jays advance to the semifinal round and will take on East Marshall Thursday night at 7 o’clock, while the Lady Falcons play Mid-Prairie this morning at 9 in a semifinal consolation contest. (Mid-Prairie lost to East Marshall 4-3 yesterday.)

At the boys Class 4A substate semifinal baseball tournament last night…

BHS 5, Cedar Rapids Jefferson 1   (Burlington will travel to Iowa City West for Wednesday night’s substate title game at 7 pm.)

In boys tournament baseball tonight…

ND vs. Lone Tree @ Washington (7 pm, Class 1A substate final)

L-M vs. Iowa City Regina @ Solon (7 pm, 2A substate final)

 

And the Burlington Bees lost to West Michigan 2-nothing last night. The Bees are off today, but head home for a 3-game series with the Great Lakes Loons beginning tomorrow night at Community Field.
