UPDATED: Home-Built Copter Crashes in Henderson County Cornfield

A 68-year old Oquawka man was injured when his home-made, single-seat aircraft took a short dive into a cornfield, about a mile south of Oquawka.

Henderson County deputy Steve Henshaw was one of the first on the scene and says the call came in around 6:30.

Henshaw and Oquawka Police Chief Keith DeJaynes say the pilot, Steven Richmond of Oquawka, was wearing a helmet when the small aircraft went down. He was taken by Oquawka Ambulance to Great River Medical Center, and then transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
